Objective
The Anti-Ragging Committee is constituted to prevent, prohibit, and eliminate ragging in all its forms within the institution and to ensure a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment for all students, in accordance with UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions and PCI guidelines.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Prevention and Awareness
- Create awareness among students about anti-ragging rules, consequences, and zero-tolerance policy.
- Organize orientation programs, awareness sessions, and display anti-ragging notices at prominent locations.
- Ensure students and parents submit anti-ragging undertakings as per UGC norms.
2. Monitoring and Surveillance
- Monitor the campus, hostels, common areas, and surrounding premises to prevent incidents of ragging.
- Conduct regular inspections and surprise checks, especially during the beginning of the academic year.
- Coordinate with hostel wardens and faculty to ensure continuous vigilance.
3. Complaint Handling and Redressal
- Receive complaints related to ragging through written, oral, or electronic modes.
- Ensure confidentiality and protection of complainants and witnesses.
- Conduct prompt and impartial inquiries into reported incidents.
4. Disciplinary Action
- Recommend appropriate disciplinary actions against students involved in ragging as per institutional rules and UGC regulations.
- Forward serious cases to the Head of Institution, University, or local authorities, if required.
- Ensure strict implementation of penalties to act as a deterrent.
5. Student Support and Counseling
- Provide counseling and emotional support to affected students.
- Promote a culture of mutual respect, dignity, and harmony among students.
- Encourage senior students to act as mentors and role models.
